Description
A real pocket compass — needle balanced and damped against a glass face, magnetic north accurate within two degrees. The body is solid cast brass with a knurled rim that thumbs open with one hand. The hinged lid carries a thin glass viewport that protects the dial without obscuring it.
On the back of the body, our circular maker’s seal is etched and gold-fill polished — “MILES HIGH SUPPLIES · HERITAGE TRAVEL GOODS · EST. 1947″ — visible whenever the compass is set down face-up. The compass attaches to a 1″ saddle-leather fob and a 1.25” solid brass split-ring, sized to clip cleanly to a belt loop, a bag D-ring, or a standard key ring.
Specs: Compass body 1.75″ diameter × 0.5″ thick, solid cast brass. Glass viewport, jeweled bearing needle, two-degree accuracy. Saddle-leather fob and brass split-ring. Made in California; compass mechanism manufactured in Massachusetts.
Care: Wipe the brass with a dry cloth; for a polished finish use Wright’s Brass Polish. The glass should be cleaned with a soft microfiber. The compass mechanism is sealed — do not attempt to disassemble. Avoid storing near strong magnets or speakers, which can demagnetize the needle over years.
